Dawson Cram is both the owner and the driver for the #41 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series team. However, this weekend at Watkins Glen, Dawson will take on the owner role, as road course star Will Rodgers pilots the #41 Elevated Performance truck. In a tremendous showing of character, and understanding of the motorsports business, Dawson will take off the driver’s helmet, and adorn a headset from the pit box.

The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series visit Watkins Glen for The United Rentals 176, on Saturday, August 7th. The weekend has a large buzz of excitement, as NASCAR marks its return to Watkins Glen after COVID-19 forced the track to shutter its 2020 events. Even more exciting is the return of the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, which hasn’t visited Watkins Glen since 1999. During the nineties, this tricky road course lent itself to the expertise of road course veterans, which should place right into the hands of Will Rogers.

Rodgers gained notoriety after a NASCAR K&N West Series race against Kevin Harvick at Sonoma Raceway, where the young Rodgers held his own against the 2014 Cup Series Champion. Sensing an opportunity, Dawson, although a driver at heart, stepped into the business owner role, giving Rodgers the opportunity to show his road course ability. Cram stated, “We are extremely excited to have Will Rodgers in my truck this weekend! It will be a great opportunity for my team to have an experienced road racer in the truck.”

Elevated Performance will sponsor the Cram Racing Enterprises #41 truck, riding along with Will Rodgers through seventy-two laps around the famed eight-turn road course. Race to End Hep C will also sponsor the #41 truck. Race to End Hep C is a part of the Will Rodgers Liver Health Foundation, and dedicated to raising awareness of Hepatitis C. Rodgers has been an advocate for liver health, after being diagnosed with a chronic liver disease at the age of three.

Dawson Cram’s business sense, and growing maturity as a team owner, will likely pay off for the #41 team. For Rodgers, the opportunity is exciting, and he hopes to build on his road course momentum. After all, he is a Watkins Glen winner.

Watch the United Rentals 176 on Saturday August 7th, beginning at 12:30 PM EST. The race will be broadcast live on Fox Sports 1 (FS1).
